Sara Wevill Animal Sculptress
I arrived in France in 2001 from Wales. I then settled in the beautiful countryside of Sarthe. I am proud to hold both French and British nationalities. I graduated in 1990 with a BA Hons in Ceramics from the University of the West of England. As I began to enjoy rural life, I had the freedom to explore and develop my technique in my own studio and create a range of ceramic art which I now exhibit and sell. In addition, I also participate in many workshops to share my passion, my techniques, my art. I work according to my inspiration or on order, exhibit in fairs, boutiques, galleries and I participate in art fairs such as Maison et Objet and ObArt Paris. My sculptures have traveled extensively and some are part of collections in France, United Kingdom, United States, Japan and others.
All creatures live in the moment and whether it is a realistic or fantasy interpretation, I want the viewer to feel the spirit and essence of the animal as I did when I captured its image.
Bringing the sculpture to life results in a unique creation. Being aware of body shape and language, creating a slight tilt of the head, giving a twinkle to the eyes or raising an eyebrow is the difference between making a sterile, soulless object and an expressive, magical work of art. We are then able to celebrate the personality, intention and beauty of the animal together.
I invite you to discover different pictures of my creations and achievements. If some of these pieces inspire you, you can find some of them directly on the online store. Or contact me, I can propose you adapted and made to measure creations.
